Raku
Raku-firing clay is a very exciting way to discover colours and effects in glazes. The red-hot piece is taken out of the kiln, while the glaze is molten and placed into sawdust and other combustibles. Here is where it burns, smokes, and smoulders to become something really beautiful and sometimes, something totally unexpected!
Raku firings are always done outside. During raku workshops all handling of hot pieces is carried out by the experienced instructor.
